Soilent Green

A String Of Lies

(c)(p)1998 Relapse Records

Review by Neil St.Laurent

Thanks to Relapse Records for the CD

3 songs and 11 minutes packed full of energy. This offering from Soilent Green may be able to hold over fans until the next full-length release or attract some new fans.

Although generally set on being a grindcore band, Soilent Green is quite capable of delivering some riffing that will even please some death metal fans. A collection of distinct and non-intertwining riffs coupled with the occasional melody makes this a noisy attack on the senses. Vocals ranging from screaming to guttoral growling complete this set of disturbances.

The artwork for this disc requires a special note, as it is as confused as the music. The front is pleasant drawing of girl holding flowers, and the back has a classical drawing of a naked woman riding a bike, all in very good style and taste. Upon opening the case you are greeted with chicks in leather and a nun on her knees however...

It is difficult to impossible to attract people to this type of music, but if anybody can, it likely will be Soilent Green.

Brian - Guitar
