What is this world that we live in?
Some throw food away in front of pictures of starving children.
Those without food continue to procreate and let their offspring die.
The world cares, but it goes on without them.
Some spend money while others live in the street,
Others make more money begging that some of those that work,
The rich are forced to support the poor,
And the poor complain about the rich.
Some whine about standing in line to get a broken finger fixed,
While others over sees die without needed medication,
Fat is sucked from the grotesque women,
The unborn ripped out and used for science,
We cure the dying with the not yet living.
Garbage is thrown into the oceans,
Trees are harvested to burn in tropical climates,
Baby seals are clubbed to make shoes,
The ground is torn up to retrieve a few precious gems,
And suckled to the oil to burn and pollute the air.
Is this the world we live?
A mother gives birth to a child,
The child squeezes his father's finger,
One day he will say he loves them both.
A man falls in love with a beautiful woman,
Two friends spend the night at the carnival,
Another sits quietly meditating on the sea shore.
A singer gives words of joy,
The music pleases the ears,
One man falls and the others help him up.
Endangered species are raised and released to the wild,
Magic astounds all those in it's presence,
A shuttle flies to the great unknown,
A couple watch the sun set in the horizon.
There is a world of hate...
There is a world of love...
I'm all for the better world,
So spare me the details as my family continues the killing!
